FallA perky squirrel With a furry tail Scampered and twirled He didn't fail To let me know He's closing the curtain On summer's show It's certain He'd make his call As summer fades He'll usher in fall He and his friends will parade Gray and furry Leaping from limb to limb In a hurry Climbing and stretching all of him In crisp early morn Birds will take flight Squirrels will gather acorns Birds will become less in sight School days Colorful leaves gently falling Fewer sun's rays School bells ringing, children calling Chilliness in the air Warmer clothes Strong winds begin to stir Shoes will cover toes Summer shall wave good-bye No more lazy, leisure days Dark misty skies Adapting to fall on display © 2007 Janet Irene Griffin Vote for this poem
