 Sandman

I dreampt I was asleep again,
In a dream that wouldn't end.
In the dream there was no mistake,
that there would be no escape.
I could not wake
I could not talk
I could not run
I could not walk
I could not move
I could not cry
no matter how hard
I did try
As I lay in the dark abyss,
I prayed to God for death's sweet kiss.
Yet, even though there was no pain,
I felt that I would go insane.
I've had terrible dreams before,
filled with pain and horror galore,
but this was like none before.
All my thoughts emerged as one,
I could not go
I could not come
Then, in my room, the Sun pierced through,
glistening off the morning dew.
I gasped and took a deep breath,
escaping from my living death.
Now off to work I must run,
and fear the evening setting Sun.
I'll try to have the best day I can,
before my eyes are filled with sand.
