I could not believe the news I heard today
It simply took my breath away
I phoned my brother and he didn't know what to say
The news that you were dead ray
Only 18 a potential superstar
One of the best players I have ever seen at QPR
I saw it on the news, the police tape and the traffic cones
And the mangled mess of a car, and the death of Ray Jones
Fast lifes come with fast cars
And with fancy woman in Londons bars
But you Ray, were a real genuine lad
And the potential to play for England you did have
I write this for you, because no matter where you'll be
I know your somewhere playing George Best at footy
Although I never knew you, I saw you play every weekend
And like all footballers you support, you call them a friend
Your goals helped to keep this club in the championship
Your skills and bravery helped ease the sinking ship
Every football supporter in the land no matter their team
Knew what you could have been
I sit here in shock and all I can do is pray
And let you know you'll be sadly missed at QPR on a 3pm Saturday
