 Whispering Heart

Like an undying pact, it stopped by again today
Came as if it fell from the sky, tapping upon shoulder
Already heavy laden with remorse, it's cousin

Psst, Psst, Where have you been hiding it asks
Ignoring it's presence, I shift thoughts with hope
Maybe it will get the message, but not today I fear

It knows all too well my weak point and toys with us
Like a child pushing us to the limit
Breathing becomes difficult, choking seems inevitable

Shrugging the cold hand that lies now upon my heart
It squeezes, sorry we say,  we're fresh out of heartache
Come back tomorrow, maybe then we'll talk

Bidding us adieu, it slams the door disappointed
Reminding me, we're best of friends and it's so right

Seems we have been, for quite some time now
