When old was young, back then the day
We had and wished we could have stayed
Rascals we were where still we stray
In thoughts, memories of yesterdays
We'd play cowboys and Indians then
Played mom and dad, baby and lend
An ear to friends who had secrets
In boys tree house, no girls we'd let
Where pony tails would change to doo's
Hot summer days we'd pick and choose
Who would be part of our great team
Stick ball, later we'd eat ice cream
Girls would jump rope and played the role
Homemaker, princess, nurse tending colds
Feeding patient and child of theirs
Pushing carriage, pulling upstairs
The ride to school on yellow bus
Would be filled with laughs and fuss
Upon reaching the bus would stop
You'd walk it home playing hop scotch
The TV set was your escape
Where rocket ships and talking apes
Would bring adventure to the scene
Wishing once more to live what seemed
A better time, a safer place
Where innocence upon your face
Would read like Peter Pan who flies
Holding your hand in midnight skies
