Heart Of The Matter
I Wonder, Do I Dare?
A time for quiet reflection,
An opening, closing door,
Packing memories in a box,
Stacking on a floor,
Bits and pieces from the past,
Irrelevant they seem,
Time has moved so swiftly,
Was I living in a dream?
A photograph of love now gone,
I place it in remembrances,
A time, a place so long ago,
A mere change, in circumstances,
Have I really locked myself away?
So safe within these walls,
I built so many barricades,
Deafened to loves calls,
I know there was a reason,
For my self-imposed immunity,
A lack of faith, a lack of trust,
My fear of insecurity,
I strip away the layers,
My nerves exposed and bare,
Can I now remove the barricades?
I wonder; do I dare?
