Heart Of The Matter
If You Were Here
If I could fly a thousand miles away,
Break free from all the ties that bind me here,
For life is harsh, it seems, all work no play,
One moment lived in hope, then one in fear,
My nights grow dark, the demons take control,
My restless sleep will bring me no respite,
I long to be with you, with heart and soul,
Turn darkness into realms of loving light,
You seem so distant, thoughts so far away,
The sunlight has no way of breaking through,
If you were here, I wonder what you'd say,
If I confessed I'd fallen hard for you.
Perhaps it's just some lovelorn fantasy,
I wonder what you'd really say to me.
