Things He Missed

i watch his pain escalate and ask myself why
he has lost so much weight his clothes no longer fit
hours spent in the back yard enjoying what he never had time for
trying to catch up on things he missed in the past

his regrets now are many he tried to make up for them all
some things are beyond making up compulsion doesnt quit
so he continues to try while his regrets fly high
trying to catch up on things he missed in the past

i try to give him comfort and enjoyment sometimes it works
but there are times that reality hits hard those moments hurt
he tries to hide the pain but it doesnt work for with me i know
trying to catch up on things he missed in the past

time weighs heavy for him he see more than i do he wont share
so i try to look the other way so he doesnt know but he knows too
because he is after all a very proud man and that is a man thing
trying to catch up on things he missed in the past
