REMEMBER SEPTEMBER
Bright sunshine in a cloudless sky,
Skyscrapers standing tall and proud,
Yet, in a moment, all seem so awry.
New York City buried in a shroud.
Souls leaped into the sky, the flames to flee,
Firefighters raced upward, knowing only too well
That they were climbing toward eternity,
For fate had unleashed the gates of hell.
The pentagon was breeched that fateful day,
Jet fuel ravaged workers trapped inside,
Forefathers must have turned their face away
To hide their tears; and their wounded pride.
Patriots aboard flight 93,
Took up the fight we had engaged,
Giving their lives for our beloved country,
Every citizen was so enraged.
On bended knee, we watched these travesties unfold
And vowed to never let ourselves forget,
The lost lives, the injuries untold,
The families torn with sorrow and regret.
