Through The Eyes Of A Poet...

I Had A Visitor This Night…

So Named, Gwen!

I had a visitor this night,
And Gwen is her name, that's true!
She brought me a table and set it up,
Just as of course, we women do!
And we had a gab and a cup of tea,
Well in truth, it was me with the chat!
Cos I have this prolific gob ya know!
And the nine lives of every cat!

We talked about fighting the fight,
And taking the baddies to task!
Cos me, I fight tooth and nail for justice!
So if you need a petition, just ask!
And we talked of life, well, my life!
Of my poetry and the books that I've got!
Gwen had a look, and seemed impressed,
So I gave her two and signed on the dot!

An autographed book she has,
Well, two of them actually!
With little stories of my walks,
Oh woe is poor little old me!
And Gwen set that huge table up!
She did, and she worked like a man!
Nope, I retract that comment!
Cos man cant work and excel like women can!

So she got on her knees on the floor,
Allan key in her hand at the ready!
To fix it together, and make it stand still!
Cos the damn flipping thing wasn't steady!
And of course, as only a woman can do,
She fixed it all up real swell-
I'll tell you; she gives them a run for their money,
And puts them all through hell!

And she's on the net a lot you know!
Looking at this, that and the other!
Oh woe is she; she's tough like me!
And she doesn't even tell her mother!
Cos we agreed that to tell of our plight,
Doesn't do any good to anyone at all,
All that does is makes them stress,
So we keep quiet and stand tall!

Cos I know if my mum knew of this tumour,
She wouldn't survive the strain!
And I believe it would destroy her,
And cause her insurmountable pain!
So I am keeping quiet until it is over,
Cos then it will all be too late,
So no need to worry or fret or be ill…
And why get them into a state!

So I will plod on with my life ya know!
Cos give me another day or two,
And there I'll be, back on top form,
Just as of course, only I can do!
And we sat and chatted all night long,
Gwen and me, the proverbial pain!
And every time she was about to go,
I'd start gabbing all over again!

But I think her family may have wondered,
Where the hell she had gone!
But she said they are used to her disappearing!
And know once more the wanderer's gone!
Cos she told me she wanders all over the place!
And is as chilled out as chilled can be!
So I sent her home with 2 of my books,
All signed by little old me!

So to Gwen I have to say to you,
You really brightened my day!
And never once did I go fragile on you!
Cos I thought my tears were here to stay!
And I am feeling better, well…
That is until tomorrow arrives!
Cos I will be all a-blubber-at-sea again!
With tears falling from my eyes!

But at least I can sit at my table in peace,
Instead of eating off my flipping knee!
And chill out, relax and eat my food,
Just as of course, it should be!
