Ironic how these numbers held
The breath of life as towers fell
Metropolis unlike no other
New York, New York that evil smothered
Hate fell that day unseen before
The eyes of innocence, from skies it poured
A call for arms would ring throughout
Desperate phone calls we'd hear about
Birds of prey would swoop and take
The lives of those yet still to wake
As others watch what would become
Ground Zero birthed, their world undone
Grown men would cry searching debris
Asking themselves how could this be
While holding breath to save someone
Destructions grave, would leave no one
Bystanders viewed with helpless hearts
On TV screens, as troops embarked
A call for arms went out that day
To help all those death swept away
Arms to carry those crushed and bruised
Arms to hold what hate abused
Arms to comfort those lost and dazed
Arms outstretched to GOD dismayed
In memory of those who rest in GODS
arms now, September 11th 2001
