The Face in the Picture (Lyric)

The Face in the Picture

Verse
I saw your picture in the paper this morning
I was surprised to see you there
You were so young; I couldn't believe my eyes
It just doesn't seem to be fair

Verse
I stare at your face and tears feel up my eyes
I think about your favorite song
It seems just like yesterday that we had talked
You never said there was something wrong

Chorus
The things that it says
The life that you lived
The friends that you made
So willing to give
The smile on your face
I read every word
We'll never replace
The face in the picture

Verse
I think back to the day that we were last together
You kept talking about your kids
How Johnny had graduated from high school
And all the wonderful things he did

Verse
Your Susie was engaged to a Christian man
So your dream had finally come true
But you never gave a sign that you were sick
Now I'm sitting here missing you

Chorus
The things that it says
The life that you lived
The friends that you made
So willing to give
The smile on your face
I read every word
We'll never replace
The face in the picture

Verse
But I have a peace inside this lonely heart
Because I know just where you are
You're in the presence of our Holy Father
Protected by Jesus' arms

Verse
You gave all you had to your family and friends
You never thought of yourself
The legacy you left will forever live on
And your story I will always tell

Chorus
The things that it says
The life that you lived
The friends that you made
So willing to give
The smile on your face
I read every word
We'll never replace
The face in the picture

Outro
Goodbye my dear friend
Til we meet again
There is nothing as pure
As your face in the picture
