Just a Talkie Show
You said you'd take me to the stars
Show me the Seven Wonders of the World
There were promises of riches, pure as gold
Just like Midas, you had that touch...But
All I ever got was a talkie show!
Before that band, and the 'I do'
You seemed the perfect gent to know
You gave me gifts and flowers a plenty
I thought I was marrying into Gentry!
I loved you like Helen loved Paris...But
All I ever got was a talkie show!
Alas it was a charade, a dupe
A story from a picture book
There is no riches, pure as gold
Your Midas touch was just 'Fools Gold'
NOW...
All I ever get is a TV picture show!
