The man I was meant to be

I looked into a stranger's eyes
he looked back and to my surprise
he saw a small boy sitting there
was all alone as if no one cared.
He never spoke a single word
no sound at all could be heard
but the small boy he saw sitting there
suddenly knew that someone cared.
At once the small boy began to grow
he learnt so much he did not know
his mind his heart opened wide
and a love of life grew deep inside.
then the stranger smiled goodbye
to the little boy that always sighed
what he left was what you see
the man inside I was meant to be.
