Found Money on Fire
OR Bad luck Joe
This is a true story about truth. And consequences.
Once eye was hiking for a long way and eye noticed a paper sack on fire it's not unusual for tramps to burn things to stay warm what was so unusual was its location it was on the side out in the open of a busy freeway ramp but under the bridge almost but still far enough away to be a nonexistent campfire.
There was nothing eye needed at the time but there was a lingering doubt when the bum ran out and grabbed that sack after EYE had put the fire out he must have better EYE than me and noticed the money. Later on at the mission house we pieced together just what happened. There was a man nammed
BILL he just quit Gambling for you see it had been eating up his heart and even though he had just won a large lump some to ewe or me it was not much enough to BILL he wanted MORE and he had faith that it would not ever end this gambling lust had entered in and so he decided that he would stop and lit his sack of $2 dollar bills on fire with just his Zippo and his smile and tossed it out and let it go and this old hobo stomped it out but guess who got the dough it was poor old JOE he took the burnt around the edges to the BANK and they gave him $300 dollars CASH. He Bragged and Bragged. BILL is sober now and happier JOE got religion at the mission and the poet was not left out the thanks eye got for saving all that dough for JOE was thanks enough.
NOW let me add a single ending to this story tale a man eye met today told me he found a $650 dollar watch just left out upon the while and it made me smile and eye promised him to make this poem there and then.
This added on is for my new found friend.
Please smile. Whatever his namme is.
