The World Needs Us
Where does one start to testify
Of life and love, wherein there lies
Inside of you and me and we
Who write sometimes so desperately
We chase heartache with sad approach
We write of lies and truth to coach
A soul to feel like we so feel
Shedding our wills and mass appeal
Writing of dreams and schemes we play
Inside of heads undreamed that stray
Across divides both good and bad
Inside our souls these writes one has
Erupt they do and ash they spew
Upon the eyes some read and do
Leave their thoughts on what you wrote
Sometimes passing or fun they poke
You write with joy that someone steals
The moment yours, these words a meal
To feast upon where hunger pains
The thought of food just not the same
Abstract, obtuse maybe foot loose
Simple, complex, some lacking couth
But in the end, they all play out
Some bringing smiles, where sadness pouts
The world needs us to bring a smile
To tired lives to rest awhile
To know of GOD, to write what feels
So good to you, your hearts appeal
To chase your dreams if just in words
To let off steam someone has stirred
To bring closure, to start anew
To have the love you had and knew
The world needs us, like a band aid
With words to heal before we fade
Into a crowd that has no clue
The world needs us, poet, GOD drew
