There and Back Again
Growing Up
Why do I feel this sense of loss?
Curling around my heart
Like a cat
Making itself comfortable
On the duvet.
I flinch at the sharp pain
Of its claws
As it kneads
the soft cotton cover
To make a home.
turning, circling
Placing its scent
On every
Single
Fibre.
Finally, it settles
content, nose buried
Under its tail
To sleep
And dream.
So must I
Grow
and be at peace
With
Losing
You.
Curling around my heart
Like a cat
Making itself comfortable
On the duvet.
I flinch at the sharp pain
Of its claws
As it kneads
the soft cotton cover
To make a home.
turning, circling
Placing its scent
On every
Single

Finally, it settles
content, nose buried
Under its tail
To sleep
And dream.
So must I
Grow
and be at peace
With
Losing
You.
