In the still of night
I lay quietly in bed
My blanket
Is velvet black
My lamp
Is bright of moon
Shining in fullness
Through thin curtain
The cold water below
Is pushing my boat with a gentle motion
From side to side
Swaying rhythmically
And I can hear the water
Lapping on the stern below
Mooring ropes
Are tied tight
And their tautness creaks loudly
The constant rocking
Lulls me to sleep
With a soothing sensation
Security is enveloped in the dark
I dream of casting away
And waking to a vista of
Palm fringed shores
In tropical blue sea
Deepest sleep calls
Tugging me into the water below and
I sleep the sleep of a log
