LETTER TO A FRIEND
Dearest friend,
A smile appears when I think of you,
And a wave of memories
Comes flooding to the fore.
Five years of age and
At the very beginning of
A beautiful closeness that
Took us through the highs and lows of life.
School days.
So happy were those times
Spent chattering in class and being
Chastised for wearing short skirts.
Teens and boyfriends and
Discussions on what we would wear to a party.
Marriage and husbands and
What we would name our first-born.
You were always happy, with
A smile for us all, and
Your children didn't realise
Their luck in having you
As their Mother.
Now,
My tears flow for those lost times.
I want them back,
I want you back with me.
Why did such a cruel disease pluck you from the crowd?
We were sisters, and
I will miss you forever.
Goodbye my darling friend……………
Sheila.
