It Is With Deep Regret
He was our boy, my only son
A Shining Knight in Mideast Sun
That brought me joy upon his birth
Taken by war from home and Earth
He fought just short of his first year
Away from home where now my tears
Will fall on flag someone will hand
To me father, broken old man
Young, restless eager to fight
Is what I saw on sleepless nights
With fear I prayed to God please send
My son safely to us again
Just one of thousands on foreign land
Where most people don't give a damn
As life and limbs today are layed
Blown up by IED, he payed
I can't imagine or even fathom
Body whats left where he'll be bagged in
The son I loved, my boy now gone
Can't fish alone on golden pond
Death had his way with me today
Tomorrow will call on us dismayed
Who sits and waits for him to come
Lifeless my Knight and only son
It is with deep regret to inform you
that your son was .......
