The air was alive
With the boom of the bassoon and
Gentle flutes blew out a winsome note
The resounding results were heavenly and
Brought a lump to my throat.
A Sunday afternoon stroll
In the park by tranquil lake,
Breezy air was thick and over-flowing
With the brigade of the band
Uniforms pristine
Positioned in the centre of the stand.
People having picnics
Couples courting on lush green
Children chasing after a ball
Happily families to be seen.
Trumpets in competition
With shiny cornets
Euphoniums in collision
With pounding drum
Everyone enjoying a Sunday afternoon
Strains circled in the heat of the sun.
