 ERROR    OF    JUDGEMENT

For I have made that costly mistake again
After vowing that the last time would be the last
Take heed of my words so that you do not err
Keep faraway nightmares in the past

My problem is I'm too trusting by halves
Assuming that what I see is what I get
Those words are ringing loudly in my ears
I should have seen it coming, and yet

Believing my heartfelt initial instincts
I went with the flow as a river meanders on
One minute life was bliss and full of joy
The next you slammed the door and had gone

Having learned my lesson well this time
I must never let my heart rule over my head
Taking time to understand my wants
Leads to a more fruitful path instead
