Climb the highest mountain, punch the face of god

Oh My Religious Diety! (OMRD!)

My god,
Who gave me rain to whet
My appetite for living in
The estrangement of earth
With enough understanding to
Get through the day.

My god,
Who I share with billions
Of other skeptical, paranoid
People looking for a cheap
And easy way out of life,
Without having to live it through.

My god,
Who hears my prayers but
Does not acknowledge them
Or my plaintive cries when
I'm suffer from a phantom pain
From some reopened old wound.

My god,
Who lets me wander in
Confusion as my shoulders
Ache from all that they
Carry, the weight which is
Making me buckle from pressure.

My god,
Who is not really mine at all,
But a memory leftover from heaven,
And even I have the right to have doubts.
