How scary it must be when you realise
That your back garden is sliding away
You open your curtains each morning
And wonder how much has been swallowed today
Little cottages that once were set near the cliff edge
They are the homes of people like you and me
Yet this spectacular slice of the English coastline
Is being stolen by the ravages of the cruel North Sea
Some fight tough and stay and use only half the house
They cannot bear to leave the bricks and mortar they have loved
But others flee and find somewhere new
They won't stop and see their place being nudged
Others have had no option at all
As nature's elements have taken an almighty munch
The defences have gone, disappeared in the sea
Rescue them now before the final crunch
