A haven of tranquillity
Now the bairn has gone to sleep
I gaze at that mop of dark brown hair
A cherished vision to keep
All day spent chasing and racing
After a child who cannot sit still
And at the end of the day
Seeing such sight is a wonderful thrill
Though daylight arrives far too early
That little midget is again full of beans
All day it will take me to wear him down
Then he will be my sleepy boys dream
