 Brian/Brenda

Don't call him Brenda,
that isn't his name.
Don't pretend he's a woman,
I feel so ashamed.
Don't say I should understand,
this isn't a game.

What has happened to my boy,
who used to be so manly?
Was it something that I did to him,
or something that I said?

I really don't understand,
why is he so strange?
Is he trying to hurt or punish me,
Why does he act this way?

He looks ridiculous dressed like that,
it really isn't his colour.
What will the neighbours think,
I can't face them today.
Maybe if he wore a wig,
and lost a little weight?

Perhaps one day,
I will accept,
the decision that he's made.
Whether he's Brian or Brenda,
I'll love her just the same.
