Poetry For Everyday People
Inside Our Heads
Today I woke up short
of that
something that keeps us goin'
mirror stared back hard
my eyes
a wave, a long lost poem
forgive me baby now
soul uproar
is an everyday religion
last time I heard the truth
love danced
in a perfect dream a vision
somewhere in the middle
people get lost and hurt
things get left unsaid
what in the world is going on
these thoughts
swimming deep inside our heads
I've seen pretty blue skies
and sadness
drifting alone at sea
broken hearts in this world
they say
are better left unseen
now I travel without a gun
there's enough
mistakes in this world
forgive me for not pretending
I've lived
the pain inside the hurt
somewhere in the middle
people get lost and hurt
things get left unsaid
what in the world is going on
these thoughts
swimming deep inside our heads
what in the world is going on
these thoughts
swimming deep inside our heads.
of that
something that keeps us goin'
mirror stared back hard
my eyes
a wave, a long lost poem
forgive me baby now
soul uproar
is an everyday religion
last time I heard the truth
love danced
in a perfect dream a vision
somewhere in the middle
people get lost and hurt
things get left unsaid
what in the world is going on
these thoughts
swimming deep inside our heads
I've seen pretty blue skies
and sadness
drifting alone at sea
broken hearts in this world
they say
are better left unseen
now I travel without a gun
there's enough
mistakes in this world
forgive me for not pretending
I've lived
the pain inside the hurt
somewhere in the middle
people get lost and hurt
things get left unsaid
what in the world is going on
these thoughts
swimming deep inside our heads
what in the world is going on
these thoughts
swimming deep inside our heads.
