Indian Summer
Indian Summer
Thermometer registers temperatures higher
Than any we saw in July
Storm clouds banking in the Southwest
Twill be here before evening is nigh.
Early dismissal, the children rejoice!!!
A warm afternoon in the sun
They skip out of school to laugh and play
October has just begun
A riot of color graces the woods
Box Elder Bugs fill the air
Humid steam seeps from the falling leaves
There are 'No-See-'Em's' everywhere.
Indian Summer, o, what glorious days
Secrets shared with only a choice few
How I wish I could call each one back
And spend them, my friend, with you.
