 ROAD   OF   SADNESS
A notorious road
Where once I lived.
A rural location
Where life was a gift.
Though danger lurked
Around that bend.
While people slept
Normality was the trend.

How many times
Would a driver near
Come zipping around
Without any fear.
Too many lives
Lost because of speed
Families ruined
And for no real need.

Before I left
The most heartbreaking of all
A young woman driving home
The consequence would appal.
The first at the scene
A policeman in dark blue
Never in his nightmares
Did he ever imagine that view.
A sunny afternoon
Would push him to hell
His newly promised wife
A fatal statistic where she fell.
