Heart Of The Matter
Young, Bikini Clad And Free
I'm remembering Sarah tonight,
For no particular reason,
She is, was, my friend,
From my dizzy teenage season,
I saw a girl, she looked like her,
Long blonde hair, dazzling smile,
Almost stopped to talk to her,
Realised, it's been a while,
Almost forty years have passed,
My God, where have they flown?
That tiny baby boy she had,
Will have children
Of his own,
But I remember her,
I remember me!
Young, bikini clad,
And free,
Both darlings of the summer set,
A beach in Spain,
I won't forget …
The crazy capers on the sand,
Serenaded by a one man band,
He played guitar,
We sang the song,
Both out of tune,
The words all wrong,
We lost all contact, she and I,
Made Africa her choice,
And the last time that I spoke to her,
There was sadness in her voice,
And tonight, I feel sad,
Just remembering Sarah,
The sun and the sea,
Two darlings of the summer set,
Both young, bikini clad,
and free.
