The Rain Had Gone

Beautiful Loch Earn, Photographed by Linda Harnett © 2007

I sat a while on a rocky crag,
Heard the mating call,
Of a lonesome stag,
The sky had never looked so blue,
The rain had gone,
The sun shone through,

The autumn trees,
Were turning gold,
Warm by day,
Yet evenings, cold,
The falling leaves,
Have lost their grip,
Sleeping branches,
Let them slip,

A piper played a rousing tune,
That carried on the air,
And in this place of beauty,
I almost saw you there,
Just standing on the other shore,
Resplendent in your prime,
And I sensed all dreams would come to be,
In God's own given time,

I sat a while on that rocky crag,
For a time, I thought of you,
And all was well,
The rain had gone,

And the sun came shining through.
