My pure delight And fascination With the exquisite idea Of sheer anticipation Makes my skin all aglow Races my pulse quite madly Affects my mood in a heartbeat And cheers my soul gladly No matter the event Even something quite gentle Can offer a feeling That is so sentimental A walk brings to life All that I hold dear The blueness of sky So radiant and clear With birds flying high And swooping wild wing Brings warmth to my heart And along with them sing The air wafting by With fresh mown grass in its gust Along with flowers' rare sweetness Delivered with dignity and trust Just when all was quiet In mornings full swell A baby cries out Through hunger I can tell While mother lifts infant The gurgling will start Love succour it close And nourishment impart Much later at the school gate Stands a little boy forlorn Searching faces passing by Looking for arms to be held warm He can barely wait longer As his father walks near Looks up at his strong gaze Was drawn near to tear Along down the track With clattering echo The train pulls to platform A huge rasp of cold metal From its carriages emerge A stream of tired faces Can't wait to reach home Their most hallowed of places At the end of my day I can hardly take breath Thoughts of seeing you in evening Wipe away all the stress I've been waiting all day Trying to harness my impatience The look in your eyes Is worth all my deliberations Vote for this poem |
