In My Heart
To My lovely dog Gilly who went to sleep while I was on holiday in New Zealand
I did not want to leave you
I begged you to hold on
I would come back to you real soon
But now my pet you`re gone
You waited `till I`d caught the plane
And landed far away
Then silently you said goodbye
Oh why could you not stay?
Och oor wean, oor duckin` fug
Oor wee Gillyflower
I will ne`er forget you
In every waking hour
Your trusting eyes and wagging tail
Your unconditional love
These memories will stay with me
As you look from above
You said that you would guard me still
When it was time to go
That you would never leave me
And I want you to know
You were my very bestest friend
And `though we are apart
My darling little Gillyflower
You`ll live on in my heart
I will sense you in the air
I`ll never be alone
And someday we will meet again
When I at last come home
