BREAKFAST    WITH    BOREDOM

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Across the table we sit, just look
You with morning newspaper
Me with my paperback book

Your hand fumbles from behind the page
In search of your cup of caffeine
I plough my spoon into the cereal
Ignoring each other is what we really mean

Whatever happened to those romantic mornings
In the newest of days
When into bed you would carry
A flower bedecked breakfast tray

You said nothing was too much trouble
As you layered butter upon my toast
After which you would rush to door and bring me back my post     (mail)

We would lie there till eleven
Laughing and talking
Then you would suddenly announce
That you were taking me out walking

To where love had first started then steadily grown
Out where grass was breezily blown

A diamond you gave me
Its sparkle reflected your eye
Forever you told me,
Until the day we would die

And all this time on
It came down to this
What happened to life and ever-after bliss

It's sad now we sit, opposite sides of the table
Give comfort to the other,
