Monogamous Façade

Monogamous façade
Malicious intent
When it was thought all content
Comes upon this charade

Deceit, dread, and regret
Exclamations of false leisure
Jealousy wrought of guilty pleasure
Never shall one truly forget

Young born unto mountains
Parents slowly falling adrift
Far from life of a pleasurable gift
Love on rocks; lines being mounted

Is it among our race
To truly allow love to fall into place
Defying our ancestral traits
Yet temptations leading to disgrace?

Families broken
Children in the line of fire
Wishing upon a power higher
That again “love” may be spoken

Newlyweds happy and proud
First day jitters and fears
Somehow led to deceit and tears
Now look afar from different clouds

Deny the façade
Allow love to stay
Deny any temptations along the way
And salvage the promise made
