WINTER NIGHTS
Winter nights
And evenings in
Curled up in front of the TV
Curtains drawn
Lights dimmed low
Just enough to see clearly
Logs crackling loudly
In the open hearth
Warmth and rest pervading
Comfort food
Stews and hotpots and
Dumplings we are ladling
Fresh toasted crumpets
Buttered thick and
Dripping down our chins
Cosy and warm
Against long winter nights
It's always ‘Home Sweet Home' that wins
