There grows a ever widening gap between my youth
And what I have become today
I long for those bright mornings of spring
When life was full of joy and hope
All that I had longed for has come and gone
Some so real and others just dreamed
With age my life has so changed
These past few years more pain less joy
I pray again for my unobtainable youth
Lost oh so lost over the years
I see myself as I was years ago
But time and pain tell me its not so
Spring morning bring sadness to fading eyes
Each spring I grow closer to the last cold winter
Oh youth sweet youth why have you left me
But alas I am not alone
We all must face that last cold winter of life
There is no stopping times toll
It carries all away like a great whirlpool
Youth turns to old and leads to the final sleep.
