Rhymes of the Heart

Insane

Hair golden as ripened wheat
Lips full and sweet as wine
Nectar of the gods
But a mortal design

Her eyes were myriad colors
Prisms baring the sunlight's reflection
All else paled in her presence
This effigy of perfection

This beauty bore many names
Her imagery so surreal
Dreams and desires concurrent
Lies and truths to reveal

Woven from the whispering cacophony
Strange clouds began to form to coalesce
Not as a hindrance but a cover
To blatantly transgress

So mesmerized by her beauty
As if the world was under a spell
Trees swayed and moaned as if lamenting
An agonizing song of farewell

The four winds couldn't claim her
This oracle revealed unto them
Converging as if to worship
This perfectly polished gem

Vanishing with the sunset
So complacently inane
Perfection but a dream
In a world that's gone insane
