Hallowdream

I remember my first ever trick or treat
Dressed as a ghost, all excited under my white bed linen sheet
Sweets were better than money back then
I think I must have been about 10?
I used to go up the road with my brothers
And his friends and their mothers
"Trick or Treat?" we would say
And we were so cute, how could they tell us to go away?
Then we got older and I went out with my mates
And it was more trick or trick, super cluing peoples gates
In the end we didn't even dress up, just went out off our heads
Drinking beers. smoking fags and throwing eggs
One Halloween we went to the housing estates where no one goes
And we got a bit carried away and started throwing rotten tomatoes
And one of my mates smashed someones window and we legged it
And the other time when we posted through a letterbox some dog sh!t
'Trick or Trick' was so much fun
I never wanted ‘candy' or some chocolate bun
Then my older brother started doing high tech trick or treat
With special effects and fireworks and costumes that were really steep
But now as I am older and I understand the meaning of Halloween
My treat would be for everything to be as it once had been
They say the dead can cross over and join us on this night?
And that is something that I would really like
Because I miss you so much mum, so much it hurts inside
Although I have made some good progress in life and have really tried
But on this day whilst the boys and girls are out all dressed up for Halloween
I will close my eyes and wait for you in my hallowdream.
