Within the Dark
rushing into harms way only thought is to escape but what am i escaping from the fear overwhelms run fast i can feel its hot breath upon my neck terror within the dark is hard to escape from the moon brightly throwing strange shadows all over i cant tell which is real or just shadows keep moving there do you hear it thrashing through the underbrush terror within the dark is hard to escape from i must keep moving cant stop to rest oh dear God help me save me the terror closes in on me i cant go on my heart is pounding inside my chest the chase goes on terror within the dark is hard to escape from up ahead light shines through the trees i dash onward knowing safety is beyond the closed doors salvation ahead i throw the door open then slam it shut and bolt it tight terror within the dark is hard to escape from outside i hear the creature howl with rage at my escape it has been defeated tonight but there will be other nights other nights and other victims to be conquered but not me terror within the dark is hard to escape from Vote for this poem
