I visited the Vietnam wall for the first time this past weekend
My old unit from Vietnam held a reunion in DC for Veterans day.
After my visit to the wall I wrote this.

Hearts fill with pain, from eyes tears fall
When one gazes upon the Black Wall
See the names of our fallen, one and all
That black stone wall so solemn it stands
A sobering tribute to military women and men
The dark wall that makes us all kin
Brothers and Sisters of a long ago war
Of a time when we were young and tried to soar
Giving all we had and than more
Honor those who did not return
Share the lessons we have learned
Knowing that a heavenly reward, our fallen earned
So stand before that Black Ribbon of Stone
Read the names engraved of our own
Who died to keep this great land our home
