Heart Of The Matter
One Man Highland Lass
I'm back on track,
No looking back,
For what is done,
Is done,
Yes, you could say,
We had our way,
Our little bit,
Of fun,
The nonsense,
Put an end to,
It's time,
For moving on,
I'm not quite sure,
Just what we had,
But for now,
It seems, it's gone,
I dream new dreams,
No ‘might have beens',
Will cause me,
Not to sleep,
My thoughts of you,
Are cherished,
And in my heart,
They'll keep,
We've both moved on,
Adventures new,
Are knocking at your door,
And as for me,
I've set you free,
I won't stop by,
No more,
I wish you well,
For who can tell,
What dreams may come,
To pass,
Remember me,
Your ‘not to be',
Your one man,
Highland lass.

I used to write a lot of limericks, mostly silly ones, which I don't do now …however I do love the rhyming flow of the limerick and like to play around with it sometimes. This is one such poem.
