From when he was a boy
His mother did her own thing~
His father walked the line all the time
Raised his children still had strength to sing~
His mother was a lose woman
Most of the time its so~
And when she had enough for awhile
Back home she'd always go~
His father had high values
And kept every single one~
He took all his fathers ways of being as
He was his fathers son~
His father died loving his mother
She could not give a single care~
He was always waiting home for her
She hardly ever was really there~
He went through life trying to be
Half the man his father was in life~
Despite all of the diversities
All the worry and the strife~
He retained his fathers values
And I guess he always will~
As nothing changed the way his father was
And he would be just the same until~
One day he went back to his home town
And he wished and how he never did~
Because all the ones now he mother knew
From grace they all had slid~
They ridiculed the memory of his father
As they knew he was better than they~
And like his mother at the time
They too would often be known to play~
Lies they told to build themselves up
But it was then way to late~
As his father had since long gone away
To where they say is a golden gate~
These warped people with warped memories
To small minded to realize~
That God above with his ongoing love
Had never ending always seeing eyes~
They were not fooling anyone but themselves
He walked out of that town disgusted~
He had to change his mind ever so
Their common sense and values had been rusted~
Old and almost senile in their make believe
They turned all the stories right around#
Maybe thinking it might help
When they too meet the ground~
He never knew honestly it's true
Why people turn things ever so around~
Just to make themselves for the first time in life
As if walking upon holy ground~
Warped people and warped memories
All know but non admit at all~
they are not fooling anyone but themselves
Till they too receive that final call~
Many there knew the honesty
Of the man his father was till time to die~
And yet some simply have to tell such lies
And he will never in this life know why~
