LAVENDER FIELDS
A winsome purple
The fields do shine
Bathed in a sea of perfume
French lavender
With it's demure smile
Brilliance to light any room
Suffused flowery oil
Succulent on the nose
Medicinal properties indeed
A dab on your collar
Is summer's shimmer
Recollecting memories we thought had recede
A spot on your pillowcase
Opens your worried mind
To a sleepful night we are told
A handful of flower heads
Dried and packed away
Clothes drawer in aroma is rolled
But those fields pull me in close
To a sunny afternoon
We sat and smiled and kissed
Realising what each meant again
To the other's eager eye
We were totally bewitched
