Missing you at Christmas
This is dedicated to all those who have loved and lost people close to them, as we reach the festive season.
Dedicated to my late nana who adored xmas. x
It's Christmas time in the city,
People shopping for gifts and surprises,
Snow crunches under peoples shoes,
The Christmas spirit quickly rises.
The night sky is pierced
By gleams of noses and fairylights,
Chimneys puff out dark black smoke,
To keep their families warm at night.
The tinsel marks a glistening path,
The baubles hang as the bells chime,
Kids excited running everywhere,
Mimicking the humming of christmas rhymes.
Christmas is all around us,
There is magic in the air,
Though I am tinged with sadness,
It's not the same without you here.
You loved the way it touched people,
You'd dance wherever you heared carols played,
Decorate your car with tinsel and lights,
Singing songs all down the lane.
You'd get us in the spirit,
You'd light up all our hearts,
And this year will be the second,
Christmas with us apart.
When the turkey comes out the oven,
When the kids wake up early,
When Santa has been and done his job,
I'll go out and feed the birdies.
I'll take a peaceful moment,
I'll remember our previous years,
Through the pain and sorrow,
I'll wipe away the tears.
Knowing you should be there,
Then knowing that you're not,
Turn around a go back inside,
To the remaining family that I've got.
I miss you more at Christmas,
Than at any other time,
'Coz you are not available,
Though you are present on the inside.
You are in my thoughts this Deceember,
I'll say a slient prayer for you,
Happy festive seasons nana,
Happy new year nana I love you x
