Guilty

Once we were innocent
but now all the same
guilty from the outset
embarrassed and shamed.
No longer mitigation
no more excuses to give
we are guilty of excess
in the way that we live.
Destroying our landscape
employing through pain
squeezed to the limit
for monetary gain.
Children sent to battle
so much courage they give
dieing in their thousands
to make others rich.
So very much we are guilty of
yet innocent of our crimes
it seems we have all come to think
“what he's got… is mine”!
