 DARKNESS    LAID    BARE

I sat and watched
As the evening cooled
And darkness lay its claw
The grit on the path
And the street light outside
Made me shiver even more

Clouds had long gone
Escorted away
Tomorrow they will return
Lifting our hearts
Opening our window to the world
Annihilating our concerns

Bright be next day
Welcome greets with both hands
Eerie black has wafted away
Come boldness and thrive
Once more to survive
Darkness has had its say
