 GRIEF

Grief is a dark monster
It can swallow us whole
If we allow it to grasp
The very core of our soul

It seems to eat us alive
The more we resist
A struggle with the devil
Who holds a mighty fist

A sorrowful lamentation
With hatred in mind
Anxious tremors
Woebegone confusions of kind

In anguish the pain
Can rip out a heart
Leaving us empty
With wounds that do smart

Inconsolable grief
Where we are stricken and left deep in pain
There's nothing that can truly repair
A heart that can never be the same
