The Old Man
I was sitting on a park bench,
with worries of the morn.
When an old man sat beside me,
his clothes all old and torn.
He watched me for a moment
and then he said to me,
You look like you could use a friend
someone to help your sorrows end.
He said" I know someone who
will gladly help you out.
He is never to busy or
filled with any doubt.
He will take your burdens
and wash them all away.
Turn them into gladness
starting with today.
As he sat and talked to me
My burdens seem to lift.
I felt my fears all melt away
as my mind began to drift.
I don't recall how long I waited
feeling such relief.
I turned to thank him
for sharing in my grief.
The man no longer sat there
and no where did I see,
I knew without a doubt
His visit was just for me.
