Neither Hope nor Majesty

He wore neither hope nor majesty
forgotten were his dreams
his heart had died so long ago
from all that he had seen.

He had witnessed children hungry
their lives so weak and frail…
but no one came to help them
we always seemed to fail.

He had seen young children beaten
crying out in fear
forced to live and die in pain
young lives we should hold dear.

He had even seen children massacred
because of different points of view
he cried in vain with loved ones
it was all that they could do.

He fought for all he believed in
without ever understanding why
he just couldn't see why things should be
that our children had no rights.

He also raised three daughters
but failed to be a dad
he left their poor hearts crying
cause his marriage was so bad.

He now is old and weary
without hope or majesty
his poor heart died so long ago
from all that he had seen.
